Aidzomi contributed INR 11,000 towards the preparation of 9 students for the 2010 Manipur Matriculation(Class X) board exams. In January, 5 boys and 4 girls, students of Convention High school, Sinzawl, a relatively remote village in Manipur were summoned by a school teacher, Mr. Siamkhankhual Dousel to pack their bags and come to Lamka for free coaching to prepare them for their March 2010 board exams. Mr. Khual, who teaches Math and Science subjects said, “ these students have the potential to do well in their studies but they do not get the right motivation and opportunities to understand their lessons well.” Believing that students in remote villages too, can do well and excel in their studies, he nurtures their potential for a successful result in their exams, which will become a foundation for building up their future careers. Another teacher, B.C Nangpu, teaches the students English and Social sciences.

The 9 students have been given accommodation at SSPP (a Paite students organization) Residential school Building where they receive daily coaching from Mr. Khual and Mr. B.C Nangpu. The students depend on the generosity of Mr. Khual’s friends and relatives for their daily meals. Students will take sightseeing trip to Imphal after their exams, and will return to their own villages by the end of March 2010.

Details of Aidzomi’s contribution:

1. INR 5000 for Khual and B.C Nangpu (in appreciation for sacrificing their time to teach the children).

2. INR 1500 for Stationery Items for use in the classroom (Paper + Chalk + Notebooks etc.)

3. INR 4500 for Students' travel expense (Rs. 500 x 9 = Rs. 4500) back to their village, and a sightseeing trip to Imphal after the board exam.
